Designed for aftermarket headers. According to header manufacturer's warranty staff, one of the leading causes of cracked headers is worn motor mounts and cracked/worn brackets. (Of course, worn or missing exhaust hangars/brackets also can cause cracks.) The Brown Dog header bracket design works with Banks, Borla, Pace Setter, Edelbrock, and many other common headers. The bracket and mounts, when used together, offer a little more room in the exhaust area to assure no conflict. So why risk cracking a header? Secure your engine and header in place with Brown Dog motor mounts and header brackets.

Super Engine Brackets virtually eliminate offroad torsional forces snapping bolts or ripping the bracket from the case. Featuring more attach points than the original brackets, the design spreads engine block attachment stress loads. Left bracket features seven bolts, four more than the original. Right bracket features eight bolts, five more than the original. Double-welded, all-steel construction for extra strength. No engine block modification necessary. Bolts directly to existing 4.0L or 4.2L Jeep engine block bolt pattern. Designed for use in Cherokee XJ and Comanche MJ.

High Performance Motor Mounts feature all-steel, double-welded construction. Stock-height, these are high-strength replacements for the originals. Designed to stand up to the toughest trails Arizona can dish out. (Sorry Utah, we can't stand the cold.) When compared to the originals and most others, these are a substantial upgrade. The original mounts, designed for street driving, simply won't stand up to the torsional stress experienced offroad.

Interchangeable Classic Polyurethane bushings. The bushings in these high performance motor mounts give you a sportier feel so you know exactly what's going on with your rig. Ships with Grade 8 Hardware (or 10.9 metric equivalent) required to bolt engine brackets to existing engine block bolt pattern. Also includes new Grade 8 thru-bolts, lock nuts and washers for securing brackets to motor mounts.

Some engine blocks in this period did not have the thread bosses later used for the coil pack. If your block does not have these holes, you will not be able to take advantage of two holes in the right bracket. They will simply be left empty.

Installation Notes

In preparation for installation, we suggest using PB Blaster or similar to clean out the additional engine block thread bosses.
Installation instructions showing which holes take which bolts will be included with your bracket.
Bolt hole preparation information will be emailed ahead of time.
