Brown Dog Super Brackets for 4.0L I-6 Jeep Cherokee XJ, Comanche MJ, Pair - Left bracket features seven bolts - four more than the original.
- Right bracket features eight bolts - five more than the original.
- All new installation hardware - Grade 8 or M10.9 metric equivalent included.
Super Brackets feature more attach points than the original brackets. This design spreads engine block attachment stress loads. Virtually eliminates offroad torsional forces snapping bolts or ripping the bracket from the case. Ideal for situations with one or more bolts already sheared or broken engine block threads. Like all Brown Dog products, these brackets are double-welded, all-steel construction for extra strength. No engine block modification necessary. Bolts directly to existing 4.0L engine block bolt pattern originally installed on 1991-2001 Cherokee XJ and 1991-1992 Comanche MJ. Designed to accommodate both original-style manifold and aftermarket headers. According to header manufacturer's warranty staff, one of the leading causes of cracked headers is worn motor mounts. (Of course, worn or missing exhaust hangars/brackets also can cause cracks.) This Brown Dog bracket design works with your original manifold or Banks, Borla, Pace Setter, Edelbrock, and many other common headers. The bracket and mounts, when used together, offer a little more room in the exhaust area to assure no conflict. So why risk cracking a header? Secure your engine and header in place with Brown Dog motor mounts and brackets. Sheared bracket to engine bolts? Broken bolt thread boss? This is your repair. While these brackets were originally designed for offroad exploration and to prevent broken bolts miles from civilation, the majority of our customers are repair shops using these brackets to 'save' an engine from the scrap pile. In fact, many XJ with sheared bolts and broken bosses have never been offroad, but suffered from years of potholes and rough railroad crossings. When converting to these brackets, we strongly recommend upgrading to Brown Dog high-performance motor mounts or motor mount lifts. The original mounts, designed for street driving, simply won't stand up to the torsional forces experienced offroad. Change mounts and brackets all at the same time and never have to do it again. Select one of the following kits and get both mounts and brackets. (If installling into 1987-1990 Cherokee or Comanche with Renix fuel system, also order PN RX2572, Renix Anti-Knock Sensor Adapter.) Installation Hardware Included. The Brown Dog ships all new Grade 8 hardware (or metric equivalent) required to bolt both brackets to all attach points in the existing engine block. Grade 8 through-bolts, prevailing torque locknuts and washers are also included for securing brackets to motor mounts or motor mount lifts. Application Notes: -
1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0L. -
1991, 1992 Jeep Comanche MJ 4.0L. -
If vehicle engine is from a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep Wrangler, call to assure this kit will work. Installation Notes: -
In preparation for installation, we suggest using naval jelly or PB Blaster with a spiral wire brush to clean out the additional engine block thread bosses. -
A copy of the installation instructions showing which holes take which bolts will be included with your bracket. We can also email it ahead of time when requested. |
