Brown Dog Right Super Engine Bracket.

Originally developed to avoid sheared bolts or ripped thread bosses on the passenger side of vehicles used off-road, most customers have never driven their Jeep off-road. (Where we come from manhole covers and potholes aren't really classified as offroad.) It's often installed after the original bolt(s) have sheared or broken in or flush with the engine block. In fact, this bracket has 'saved' many, many I6 4.0L engines from the scrap heap.

This right (passenger-side) Super Engine Bracket ships with eight Grade 8 or metric equivalent attachment bolts - five more than the originals. The additional bracket to engine block attachment points virtually eliminate offroad torsional forces shearing bolts or ripping bolts from case. No engine block modification necessary. In fact, most customers don't even pull the engine (and there's not a good reason to rent/purchase an engine hoist, either.) The additional threaded bolt holes are already in the block.

As with all Brown Dog engine brackets, Super Brackets feature the Brown Dog's unique lipless design which eases installation of MMLs. This all-steel double-welded engine bracket accepts stock-height motor mounts (MMs) or 1" or 2" motor mount lifts (MMLs). Unique lipless bracket design will not interfere with installation of 1" or 2" MMLs.

Purchase brackets individually or as kit with motor mounts or motor mount lifts.
When converting to these brackets, we strongly recommend upgrading to Brown Dog high-performance motor mounts or motor mount lifts. The original mounts, designed for street driving, simply won't stand up to the torsional forces experienced offroad. Change mounts and brackets all at the same time. And never have to do it again. Kits include:
  • Super Kit, S2572-0, includes a pair of Super Engine Brackets and pair of Classic Polyurethane Motor Mounts.
  • Super Kit, SU2572-0, includes a pair of Super Engine Brackets and pair of our proprietary Ultra-Flex Rubber Motor Mounts.
  • Super Kits, S2572-1 or S2572-2, includes Classic Polyurethane 1" or 2" Motor Mount Lifts (MML) and pair of Super Engine Brackets.
  • Super Kits, SU2572-1 or SU2572-2 includes a pair of our proprietary Ultra-Flex Rubber 1" or 2" Motor Mount Lifts (MML) and pair of Super Engine Brackets.
When purchasing Super Kit for 1987-1990 Renix 4.0L Cherokee XJ, be sure to order "RX" series below. This series includes the Brown Dog Knock Sensor Adapter for use with the Left Super Bracket.
  • Classic Polyurethane Super Kits, S2572-0RX or S2572-1RX, includes pair of Super Engine Brackets and Classic Polyurethane Motor Mounts (-0RX) or Motor Mount Lifts (-1RX).
  • Ultra-Flex Rubber Super Kits, SU2572-0RX or SU2572-1RX, includes pair of Super Engine Brackets and our proprietary Ultra-Flex Rubber Motor Mounts (-0RX) or Motor Mount Lifts (-1RX).
Hardware
The Brown Dog ships all new Grade 8 hardware (or metric equivalent) required to bolt brackets to four attach points in the existing engine block. Grade 8 through-bolts, lock nuts and washers are also included for securing brackets to motor mounts or motor mount lifts.

Application Notes
Utilizes existing bolt pattern found on right (passenger) side of 4.0L (inline 6 cylinder) Jeep engines originally sold on:
  • Wrangler YJ 4.0L I6, 1991-1995
  • Wrangler TJ, 4.0L I6, 1997-1999
  • Cherokee XJ, 4.0L I6, 1987-2001
  • Comanche MJ, 4.0L I6, 1987-1992
Installation Notes
  • In preparation for installation, we suggest using Naval Jelly, brake cleaner or PB Blaster to clean out the additional engine block thread boss. A wire spiral brush will come in handy, too.
  • In some vehicles, this bracket uses the same holes as the coil bracket. You will want to prepare these bolts for removal by soaking them for a few days. We provide all new, longer bolts to accommodate this.
  • In some vehicles, the alternator bracket and this bracket will share holes. We suggest squirting some PB Blaster or other soaking lubricant on these bolts a few times to assist with removal. Again, we provide all new, longer bolts to accommodate this.
  • A copy of the installation instructions showing which holes take which bolts will be included with your bracket. We can also email it ahead of time when requested.
